Calling all lovers of words–written, spoken, drawn, or performed on stage!
Come find your people! Join GrubStreet’s Young Adult Writers Program (YAWP), where high school students from all over the greater Boston area gather to craft their stories, share their ideas, and cheer each other on! YAWP offers three types of programs: free Saturday writing sessions, Teen Writing Classes (during winter, spring, and summer vacations), and a three-week summer Teen Writing Fellowship .

Teen Summer Writing Sessions Learn More
YAWP Summer Writing Sessions are two-week long immersive creative writing experiences, where teens will hone their craft in small genre-based cohorts, while connecting each day with other teen writers through morning check-in writing sessions, communal lunch, daily 1:1 office hours with any teen instructor, a guest visit from an established author, an all-YAWP college and workplace readiness writing day, and weekly Open Mics on Friday afternoons. Scholarships are available and abundant for each session.
Teen Summer Writing Fellowship Learn More
YAWP's Summer Teen Writing Fellowship immerses high school students in the writers' world of creative craft and publishing. During three intensive weeks at GrubStreet, teens work with published authors on original prose and poetry, meet with literary agents and editors, take field trips to inspirational locales like the ICA, and chat with popular contemporary authors. In the spirit of writers' residencies for adults, all teens will receive a $800 stipend for their commitment to the program and their time spent as working writers.
