Frequently Asked Questions

I’m not from Boston or New England, can I still attend events and join the group?

  • Yes!

Do I need to submit my work to join the group?

  • No. The group is not a “writing group.” You may however be able to connect with members and create writing groups with those who share genres and interests.

Are all BWOC events free?

  • Yes! All of our events (remote and in-person) do require registration though. So if you’re attending, be sure to register!

Do I need to have a lot of writing experience to join?

  • No!

Do I need to be published to join?

  • Not at all! The group is for anyone who is interested in writing at any level and with a wide variety of goals that might or might not include ultimately publishing their work.

As an ally of the BIPOC community, can I still share resources with the group?

  • Yes! If you do not identify as a writer of color, we encourage you to be a support and resource to BIPOC writers by sharing opportunities, events, and amplifying their work. Please, however, refrain from requesting cultural research, promoting your publications, and posting unsolicited advice.
