Submission Requirements

  • Eight (8) to ten (10) pages of your memoir. They don’t need to be the first pages.

  • The name of a GrubStreet instructor or other writing instructor who can comment on your writing and/or classroom experience.
  • A list of any nonfiction writing classes you’ve taken, and where they were offered.
  • The application for the 2025-2026 Memoir Generator will open Spring 2026.

Tuition and Fellowships

The cost of the program is $2,525 due in full one week before the first day of class. Payment plans are available with 50% due at least one week before the start of class and the rest usually divided over the first third of the program.

In order to be considered for one of our fellowships, you will have the option to fill out the Fellowship Application section at the end of your application to the program. Only one application is necessary to be considered for any of our funding options, and it's a very brief application. Admitted students can expect notification on their fellowship status at the time of admission to the program. While all Memoir Generator applicants can expect to be notified of their standing by the Memoir Generator Selection Committee, applicants not accepted into the program will not receive a separate notification from the Fellowship Committee.
