Help share the stories that will change the world.
Together, GrubStreet's donors and members expand horizons by supporting writers and readers who are changing the world.
The Impact of Donor Contributions
Thank you for helping share the stories that will change the world.
Your generosity allows us to deliver the promise of our new center for creative writing, reduce barriers to participation, and offer inspiring programs for teens and adults from every neighborhood in Boston and beyond.
Our community of supporters makes sure that GrubStreet's programs are truly accessible to a richly diverse group of writers and readers.
Donor generosity to GrubStreet:
- Ensures that 80% of classes for teens are provided at no cost to participants and their families.
- Increases funding for the Boston Writers of Color Group for retreats and gatherings in the new center and mentoring, guest artist presentations, and manuscript consultations.
- Helps provide free programming through our neighborhood-based program, Write Down the Street.
- Provides transportation subsidies for more students to reach the new center.
- Provides funding for co-creation of new workshops with instructors and community partners that meet the needs of writers of all backgrounds.
- Supports bold literary events on the new stage including performances, readings, craft talks, and open mics.
- Keeps classes and programs as accessible as possible so that more writers can participate, as tuition covers only 75% of the cost of GrubStreet’s paid classes.

Neighborhood Workshops
GrubStreet's Community & Neighborhood Programs focus on making the creative writing workshop more accessible to those who face challenges due to cost, language skills, lack of access to transportation, systemic inequities, and other barriers. In addition to offering scholarships and free programs at our Center for Creative Writing in the Seaport, GrubStreet sponsors free writing programs, classes, and events at various libraries and community centers to ensure that arts programming is accessible.
Scholarships
GrubStreet is committed to making the literary world accessible to writers from all backgrounds. Each year, our donors—many of whom are GrubStreet students—make it possible for us to offer a wide range of scholarships to teens and adults towards every single one of our classes and programs.
