Workplace Writing

Transform Your Organization Through The Power of Storytelling

Did you know information delivered as a story is 22 times more memorable than facts alone? Though not every PowerPoint or company-wide memo needs to be a Hollywood blockbuster, it’s no secret, according to Forbes, that storytelling is a vital tool for business growth and that employees who struggle with it can lose out on critical leadership skills and offer fewer competitive advantages for your company.

What We Do:

GrubStreet’s Workplace Writing Program teaches creative storytelling skills that directly translate into inspiring leadership and increased business value.

In the ever-evolving landscape of corporate communication, the need for enhanced writing and storytelling skills has become paramount. Our clients recognize the imperative for their team members to excel in workplace communication, whether in day-to-day interactions, presentations, or engaging with clients and colleagues.

Focused on honing day-to-day writing skills, delivering impactful presentations, and fostering effective team communication, the program explores narrative techniques of storytelling and creative writing to craft compelling stories for diverse workplace situations. The program aims to achieve core objectives, such as improving writing abilities and enhancing the delivery of thoughtful, constructive peer feedback.

A structured session wrap-up ensures participants reflect on their takeaways and strategize how to apply newly acquired skills directly into their work.

Who We Are:

GrubStreet is the nation's leading center for creative writing, with over 25 years of experience teaching creative writing workshops. Our students have gone on to publish bestsellers, win awards, and receive critical acclaim.

What’s Our Secret?

We bring the same fun and artistic excellence of a GrubStreet class to your office, in-person or remotely. We are the best at what we do, and we bring our award-winning experience and excellence to your organization.

All writers need insightful readers, inspiration, encouragement, and honest feedback. That’s where we come in. Our instructors are talented working writers and teachers, dedicated to being rigorous and supportive.

Through the collaborative format of our writing workshops, your team will also learn how to give the kind of productive feedback that leads to an innovative organizational culture.

Our Workplace Writing Program classes are accessible to everyone, regardless of whether or not they consider themselves writers, and are offered in a variety of topics and formats. We work with each client individually to build a class and training experience that best suits their needs and interests.

Sample Classes:

  • Storytelling Techniques for Improved Workplace CommunicationIn our signature program, participants will apply the art and craft of creative writing to real-world situations in their day-to-day workplace. They will practice the fundamentals of storytelling to improve professional communication — whether that is honing day-to-day writing skills, creating presentations, persuading an audience, communicating among each other or teams/departments, telling an individual or organization’s story, or engaging with clients.

  • Storytelling in Workplace Communication Series Is a program of shorter, fun, interactive, standalone yet thematically connected sessions approaching communications from different angles. Participants will apply the art and craft of creative writing to real-world situations in their day-to-day workplace, engaging in practical exercises on using storytelling in daily communication. Participants can attend one or all sessions in any order; each teaches a different storytelling skill. Topics include: Fundamentals of Storytelling, Perfecting the Hook, Transforming Ideas into Stories that Emotionally Connect, among others.
