The Students

Who Should Apply

The ideal student for this class is someone who wants to invest energy and time in studying the memoir form, in exploring the craft of storytelling, and in looking at thier experiences in a fresh light. Students don’t have to have written very much of a draft, but they will be expected to attend the class sessions, provide encouragement and feedback to other students, and make time for writing outside of class.

This class is intended for students of all levels, including those just starting out and those who may have published extensively already but wish to focus on the book-length memoir form in a class that offers guidance and plenty of encouragement. Students who apply will need to have previously taken at least one workshop class—either Memoir in Progress or an equivalent nonfiction-writing workshop.
