  • $85.00 Non-Member

Class Description

Have you ever been swept away by a romance novel, and then overcome by the desire to write one too? Do you have characters who feel destined for each other, but you’re not sure how to bring their love story to life on the page?

Romance is for everyone. Whoever takes center stage in your story and whatever kind of love you want to explore in your novel, this class will equip you with the tools you'll need to get started on a romance for the ages. In this workshop, you’ll learn the essentials of crafting a compelling and swoon-worthy romance novel. We’ll explore the key ingredients of a great love story, draw from popular examples of the genre, and go over techniques that you can bring into your own writing. You’ll also learn how to develop a strong plot that keeps readers engaged while honoring the heart of romance: emotional depth and connection.

By the end of this class, you’ll have an idea of what it takes to build a strong foundation for your romance novel, an understanding of the romance market and subgenres, and ideas for next steps in your writing journey. Your instructor will also introduce opportunities to refine your work in upcoming GrubStreet workshops.

Writing Roadmap: We've created a simple, goal-based writing roadmap to help you find the perfect GrubStreet course for your writing needs.

You can enable closed captioning at any time during the meeting by clicking the CC button at the bottom of the screen. If you'd like to access the transcript after class, please make sure to let your instructor ahead of time that you'd like a copy.
