A Farewell & Thank You to Artistic Director Dariel Suarez
After nine inspiring years at GrubStreet, our Artistic Director, Dariel Suarez, will be stepping down from his role at the end of the year.
We are deeply grateful for Dariel’s vision and his transformative work. During his tenure, Dariel expanded and evolved our offerings for writers of color and led the charge to ensure that writers of all backgrounds could thrive on their own terms. From innovating workshop models to helping create inclusive curriculum guidelines to being a generous mentor to so many emerging writers, he has contributed in countless ways that strengthened our programs, deepened our mission, and changed the lives of the writers we serve.
“In addition to being an extraordinary teacher and mentor to many, Dariel has been a change agent for GrubStreet. A fierce champion of our mission, he has left an indelible legacy. Thanks to him, our Education Director, Erin Cohen Weiss, and the entire program team have a wonderful foundation on which to build in the years ahead,” said Eve Bridburg, GrubStreet’s Founding Executive Director.
We hope you’ll join us in thanking Dariel for everything he’s contributed and in wishing him all the best in his next chapter (we can’t wait to read his next novel). You can read Dariel’s full note to the community here.
