Class Description
Dive into the heart of storytelling as we explore three crucial beats: the inciting incident, the midpoint, and the climax. This class is designed to empower you to craft compelling narratives by identifying and harnessing these pivotal story moments.
Through a combination of insightful examples and hands-on writing exercises, you will learn how to effectively captivate readers through these important scenes. We'll debunk myths and analyze successful story beats from published works from authors such as Mai Nguyen, Jasmine Guillory, and R.F. Kuang, dissecting the elements that make them impactful.
Whether you're a novice writer seeking a strong start or an experienced author aiming to refine your technique, this class will help you refine your story beats in the most effective way possible.
By the end of class, you will have honed your ability to craft these important scenes that engage readers and set the stage for compelling, unforgettable narratives. You’ll learn how to identify your story's inciting incident, midpoint, and climax; how these scenes connect in your narrative; and you'll understand how these beats advance your protagonist's character arc.
