Class Description
Whether you've never written creatively before or you're a more experienced writer looking for a recharge, your mission in this course is simple: devote three hours of your week to writing. Through a series of engaging writing exercises, we will mine our experiences and imagination for material and bring what we find to life on the page. With an eye on craft and an openness to inspiration, we will read and discuss short pieces (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, etc.) by a variety of writers. All participants will have an opportunity to read work in progress and get brief and in-class constructive feedback. We will set personalized writing goals and support each other in meeting these goals, in a generative and supportive environment.
Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
