About Heather
Heather Nelson is an inspiring and results-based educator with over 10 years of experience delivering innovative and engaging writing instruction and mentoring to help clients achieve their writing goals. She enables clients to produce writing that is clear, well-organized, persuasive, and original. She can provide individual guidance for the writing process from brainstorming to planning through drafting, editing and revising. She has a particular emphasis on college application essays, academic essays, and creative projects. Heather's first book of poetry, Motherland, is forthcoming from Kelsay Books in 2025. Heather has been a student of poetry since college. After a break, she returned to writing in 2011 and has since been published in: Ekphrastic Review, Lily Poetry Review, Nixes Mate, Spoon River Review, and many other publications. She currently leads a local free-write group, runs workshops at Grub Street, and plans events for Litcrawl and other community writing experiences. Heather is already working on her next book of poetry.Interests
