Class Description
This program welcomes writers of all backgrounds and experience levels and was created to center and support BIPOC writers within our community. While writing that engages with race, culture, family history, migration, language, and heritage is welcome, it is not required.
This class focuses on the act of seeing our identities as the catalyst for our approach to writing. Throughout this course we'll explore the capacity for blurring genres, experimentation, and hybridity as a container for the fullness ourselves.
From poetry, non-fiction, fiction, multi-modal work and more, we'll read and engage in a range of texts from work by Krista Franklin, Jericho Brown, Audre Lorde, Maggie Nelson, and more while also engaging in interactive exercises to create new work, new forms, and new approaches to our writing practice.

This class will take place using Zoom videoconferencing. After registering, a yellow Resources tab will appear in this section containing a link to join class. Please note that you will need to be logged into view the Resources tab.
Zoom Participation:
In our experience, the intimate nature of a writing workshop benefits from on-camera participation. Students are of course welcome to turn their camera off whenever they need to, but it is a community norm for cameras to be on most of the time. You can learn more about using Zoom here.
