Building Your Memoir Book Proposal

Class Description

So you’ve written 50 + pages of your memoir and now you want to try your hand at a book proposal. But where to begin? In this six-week class, we will work on how to shape your ideas into a commercial proposal that you can market to an agent or publisher. We'll pay special attention to the single most important factor in selling nonfiction: the framing. Why this book? Why you? And why now?

This class will combine lecture, highly interactive discussion, and workshop, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions. We’ll also closely review two or three proposals by recent debut authors whose books did well and find the approach that makes most sense for your story. By the end of the six weeks you should have a solid draft of a book proposal.
