Class Description

6 Weeks, 6 Stories is a laboratory to experiment with new forms and share fresh work in a supportive environment. This fun, intensive class is for anyone ready to take on a generative writing sprint, whether you're a seasoned writer or brand new to the world of fiction. You can expect to write a new story draft (ranging from 300-1500 words) each week, and to be workshopped by the class at least twice. Through our workshop sessions and discussion of contemporary published stories from authors like Douglas Stuart, Mai Nardone, Frederick Reiken, Daphne Palasi Andreades, Julie Otsuka and more we'll collaborate on a craft toolbox that we can apply to our own work.

You'll leave class with: new ideas and inspiration, six new story drafts, writing prompts to carry you forward, and a grasp of the fundamental elements of short fiction, including plot, form, character, theme, setting, and language.
