About Naphisa
Naphisa Senanarong is a fiction writer from Bangkok, currently based in Boston. She received her MFA in Fiction from Brooklyn College where she was a recipient of the Himan Brown Award for Creative Writing. Her writing has been published in Gulf Coast, Bennington Review, Hawai’i Pacific Review, and more. She has received scholarship support from Tin House. Her short story has been nominated for the PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers. She is currently working on a collection of linked short stories set in Bangkok. Her current project explores the narratives of reinvention that women construct for themselves in a place where stories are tied up in dreams, myths, and censorship.
I’m interested in working with fiction and creative nonfiction writers in all stages of their process, from idea generation, polishing a draft, to arranging their manuscript. Due to my experiences as a workshop instructor and enthusiasm for genre-bending work, I’m open to working with all styles and genres. I provide in-depth written feedback letters on the work’s core preoccupations, strengths, and areas for further exploration and revision. I’m available for online or over-the-phone meetings on individual pieces or the manuscript as a whole. I offer a concrete three-step approach for interpreting and triaging feedback, turning revision into an actionable, generative process that goes beyond simply line-editing. I always prioritize the writer’s vision for their project. All the craft tools and guidance I provide is in service of making the writer's intentions clear to readers.
