This Manuscript Month, challenge yourself to write 50 hours with the GrubStreet community!

Whether you’re kick starting something new or polishing a final draft, our second annual Write-A-Thon is your opportunity to gain accountability, fuel your writing, and support GrubSteet's mission.

• Access to the exclusive 2025 Write-A-Thon Facebook group to connect with fellow participants, share your progress (or just humblebrag about your word count — we won’t judge)

• Invitation to a celebratory closing event featuring a lively conversation between acclaimed authors Maurice Carlos Ruffin and Hank Phillippi Ryan on artistic resilience

Together, we’re working toward an ambitious collective goal: 40,000 total writing hours as a community to amplify the importance of making creative writing accessible. Throughout the Write-A-Thon, we’ll invite gifts from our community to put craft instruction within easy reach of every interested teen and adult writer. Your participation will bring vital awareness and help GrubStreet raise $25,000 towards our mission.

Scholarship Highlight

GrubStreet is committed to providing accessible programs that reduce barriers to entry for anyone interested in the craft of writing and storytelling. This includes tuition-free initiatives like our Mentorship Program, which serves hundreds of students and is focused on community members with financial need and from historically underrepresented groups. Through one-on-one meetings with GrubStreet instructors, participants discuss craft and the writing life. Students have called this program "invaluable," "unique and wonderful," "accessible," "incredibly helpful," and "life-changing.
