Class Description
The first (or second, or…) draft is finally done. Manuscript pages, files, boxes of workshop critique and a thousand to do lists cover both your real and virtual desk. How do you approach it? Where is that great scene? Does your dialogue work? What did you end up naming that nurse? Should you switch back to third person? And how do you organize everything?
Revision can be overwhelming. Structural techniques and tools—ranging from helpful computer shortcuts and tricks, to editing checklists, to a judicious use of your three-hole-punch—can help marry your left and right brain. This workshop will cover three areas of revision: concrete organizational ideas; strategies for reading and editing your own work; and managing and editing manuscripts with online and computer tools. It will also include discussion of evaluating and incorporating critique into your own writing. In-class exercises will help sharpen your revision techniques. Revision and editing strategy sheets, suggested readings, and examples of computer-generated tools will be distributed.

Zoom Participation:
In our experience, the intimate nature of a writing workshop benefits from on-camera participation. Students are of course welcome to turn their camera off whenever they need to, but it is a community norm for cameras to be on most of the time. You can learn more about using Zoom here.
Zoom Accessibility:
You can enable closed captioning at any time during the meeting by clicking the CC button at the bottom of the screen. If you'd like to access the transcript after class, please make sure to let your instructor ahead of time that you'd like a copy.
