Class Description
What is Asian American poetry? Are they simply poems written by Asian American-identifying poets or are there common themes/styles? What can we learn from studying the work of poets categorized based on identity? We will study the craft in poems by Jennifer Chang, Victoria Chang, Franny Choi, Li-Young Lee, Ocean Vuong and others. Our aim will be to learn from their work, as well as generate the beginnings of our own poems. All levels of experience are welcome.
Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
