Class Description
This class will help you come away with strategies to combat everything from writers' block to impostor syndrome. In this seminar, participants will read what advice seasoned writers like Mary Karr, Anne Lamott, David Mura, and Stephen King have about the pros and cons of writing every day. These practices include: setting timers, writing groups, word counts, and more. We will try some of these ideas out in-class and use prompts. We will discuss the creative process and how to make space for it while also meeting deadlines. Before the end of class we'll answer David Mura's questions from A Stranger's Journey about one's writing process, discuss what resonates, and have the opportunity to share what we've written.
Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.

This class will take place in-person at our Center for Creative Writing in Boston's Seaport neighborhood.
