I was the kid the other kids threw rocks at, a sacrifice to the gods of normalcy, in a small town that recently voted overwhelmingly in favor of Donald Trump in the Massachusetts primary. I did not have many friends and I liked it that way, retreating into a Flogging Molly hoodie rather than meeting the eyes of the guy who sat next to me in homeroom, hanging around the English department’s office instead of heading to my next class

Summer Teen Fellowship Deadline 3/28

Attention all teen writers: the deadline to apply for our 2014 Summer Teen Fellowship is Friday, March 28th.

The Fellowship is a three-week creative writing program open to all incoming 9th-12th graders in the Boston area and will be taking place July 14th - July 31st. This is a great opportunity for all aspiring writers, with intensive writing workshops, visits from established authors and publishing professionals, and much more. Plus, in the tradition of adult writing fellowships, students accepted into the program will receive a stipend of $300 upon completion. For more information and to apply please click here. Back to School, Audio Literature Edition

At The Drum, we could think of no better way to mark the beginning of a new school year than by featuring some of the best work from Grub's Young Adult Writers Program. Over the summer, we recorded talented teen writers Ally Engelberg, Hau Nguyen, and Molly Zimetbaum reading their short fiction aloud for the magazine. Drew Jameson and Chip Cheek helped bring this project to fruition, and just last week, The Drum published these young writers' fine work

YAWP Summer 2019 Playlist Series: Wannabe
