Introducing A New Teen Summer Writing Experience

Based on feedback from our amazing teen writing community, we've reimagined GrubStreet's Teen Summer Writing Workshops to create a more immersive, inspiring, and connected in-person experience for writers aged 13-18.
This summer, we’ll host four two-week-long sessions, bringing up to 60 teen writers together in each session to work in small, genre-based cohorts, where they'll explore new styles of writing with talented instructors, experiment with craft to find their voice, and grow alongside other local teen writers.
More than just classes, these summer sessions offer an unforgettable experience, featuring program highlights like:
- Special guest author visits for insight into the writing life
- Writing and office hours at the end of the day with 1:1 mentorship from instructors
- Morning writing check-ins with all cohorts
- Daily communal lunch provided by GrubStreet
- Open Mic Fridays to share work and gain confidence in presenting skills
- A college and professional writing day for guidance on crafting compelling personal statements and other essays for applications
- Guaranteed publication opportunity in the YAWP Anthology
- A free Anthology Week open to all participants at the end of the summer to contribute to the publication process
Scholarships are available for every summer session. You can take one of the following sessions or join us for multiple over the course of the summer:
- Teen Summer Writing Session One: June 23rd to July 3rd
- Teen Summer Writing Session Two: July 7th to July 18th
