About Michelle

Michelle Bowdler is an alum of the 2016-2017 Memoir Incubator class. She is is author of Is Rape a Crime? A Memoir, an Investigation and a Manifesto, longlisted for the National Book Award and named one of the 100 Must Read Books of 2020 by TIME Magazine. Michelle has been a resident at Ragdale and MacDowell, been nominated twice for a Pushcart Prize and is a recipient of the Barbara Deming Award. She is currently a scholar at the Women and Gender Research Studies Center at Brandeis University. Her second book, The Kids Aren't Alright, a book about the mental health of our nation's youth, with a focus on the college years will be published in 2026 by Basic Books.
