About Olivia Kate

Olivia Kate Cerrone is the author of The Hunger Saint, a historical novella about the child miners of Sicily and a forthcoming novel called Displaced. Winner of an American Fiction Award, The Hunger Saint was praised by Kirkus Reviews as “a well-crafted and affecting literary tale.” Her writing has appeared in The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The Christian Science Monitor, Psychology Today, Publishers Weekly, and elsewhere. Winner of the Crab Orchard Review's Jack Dyer Fiction Prize, her fiction has appeared in various literary journals, including New South, the Berkeley Fiction Review, The MacGuffin, and War, Literature and the Arts. Excerpts from her forthcoming novel Displaced won the Novel Slices Issue Four contest and were longlisted for both the DISQUIET Literary Prize and the Masters Review Novel Excerpt Contest. Bestselling author Jeanne Mackin praised Displaced as “an all engaging, fall-into-it story...this writer has a great voice.” She holds an MFA in creative writing from New York University and a BFA from the Writing, Literature and Publishing program at Emerson College. Currently a creative writing instructor at GrubStreet, she has also taught at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, GrubStreet, Pioneer Valley Writers' Workshop, Writers Without Margins, New York University, Suffolk University, and Bunker Hill Community College.
