Dept. of Congrats Spotlight: Kendra Augustin

GrubStreet is thrilled to congratulate Kendra Augustin. Kendra’s short fiction piece "Death is Stupid" was published in Bull. It was workshopped in Caroline Belle Stewart's “Short Story Collection Builder” workshop. Additionally, her hybrid short fiction/poetry piece "All the Instagram Poems in the World" was published in Some Words. She credits Kayla Degala-Paraíso's “Bend, Blend, and Break: Blurring Genres” class for inspiring her to write it.

We asked Kendra how her time at GrubStreet influenced her accomplishments:

“Through my GrubStreet classes, I’ve learned how to write traditionally and nontraditionally, discovered countless new books, presses, literary magazines, and agents, and figured out what kind of feedback is most useful to me. Through free mentorship opportunities, I’ve also gained the confidence to read my work aloud and received a query letter edit and poetry feedback. I’m currently working on both a poetry collection and a short story collection, with pieces drawn almost entirely from classes I’ve taken at GrubStreet since October 2024!”
