Dept. of Congrats Spotlight: Divya Babin

GrubStreet is thrilled to congratulate Novel Generator and Short Story Incubator graduate Divya Babin! Divya’s short story “Carmilla, or the Making of a Girl” was published in Baffling Magazine. She would like to thank instructors Annie Hartnett and Ron MacLean for their encouragement along her writing journey, as well as all her Grubbie friends for their generous support.
We asked Divya how her time at GrubStreet influenced her accomplishment:
"GrubStreet has been instrumental in my writing journey. When I took my first class at the end of 2018, I hadn’t written seriously for years and went as a hobbyist. Since, I have built a regular practice, written three novels and a dozen short stories and acquired the tools I needed to move my writing forward, all thanks to the Novel Generator and the Short Story Incubator. Beyond craft, these courses have given me the confidence to submit my stories to literary magazines, as well as a tight-knit community of writer-friends, without whom I wouldn’t have written and edited half of what I have in the last seven years."
