breaking grub newsThe Muse has left the buildingA big grubbie thanks to the almost 400 participants, authors, agents, editors, and panelists who made the Muse a smashing success! We hope you all had as much fun as we did, and that you left feeling inspired and invigorated. A special thank you to Jonathan Franzen for his keynote address: Jonathan, we're sure that there's a perfect German word out there to describe how wonderful it was to have you with us this weekend, but until we learn it, a plain old capitalized English THANK YOU will have to suffice! Spring Writing Workshops underwayOur Spring workshops began last week, but there are still plenty of spaces left in upcoming seminars and weekend workshops. Born Before Plastic Book Launch: A Night to RememberThank you to the over 100 seniors, their families, and guests who celebrated the launch of Born Before Plastic last week at Borders Bookstore in Back Bay. Senior authors from the North End, South Boston and Roxbury autographed copies of the book that they developed while participating in Year One of the Memoir Project. Thanks again, and click here to buy your own copy! We'll also be posting photos from the event here soon. Memoir Project Reaches MattapanOn Wednesday, February 20th, 30 seniors began taking our free memoir-writing workshops at the Foley Senior Residencies in Mattapan. The courses will run for eight weeks and be taught by our wonderful instructors Michelle Seaton and Soul Brown. These seniors will also get one-on-one editing help on their work from Alexis Rizzuto and her team of volunteer coaches. Our hope is to publish another edition of Born Before Plastic that includes memoirs from Mattapan and the program's other recently-visited neighborhoods: Chinatown, East Boston and Charlestown. |
