Class Description

This is a facilitated writing group designed for accountability and community building. An instructor will be present to facilitate and offer general guidance, but this is not a writing class, and it won’t involve craft lessons or in-depth feedback on your writing. Please check out our hundreds of writing class offerings for those features! These groups are a great option for anyone who’s at work on a project and looking to set aside some time each week to make progress on their writing and connect with others.

Do you have a few finished drafts you're proud of, but struggle to find the time, confidence, or information needed to sit down and submit them for publication? Sign up for Submit-a-palooza, and give yourself the gift of 90 minutes a week dedicated to planning and implementing submissions. You can use this time to search various platforms for publications, contests, residencies for which your work may be a fit. In the company of others working on similar goals, you will have time to tweak your cover letters, artists' statements, proposals, and to gather any other materials that may be required. There will be built-in time at the beginning of the session to share goals for the day, ask questions from the facilitator, and plenty of opportunities for connection with other writers. Bring your lunch, or grab a bite downstairs from Fabulist Café for submission stamina!

Scholarships Format/Location

Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.

This class will take place in-person at our Center for Creative Writing in Boston's Seaport neighborhood.


Covid-19 Update:

GrubStreet's space will be mask-optional when Boston's Covid-19 Community Level is low or medium. When the Covid-19 Community Level is high, our space will require masks. Please check GrubStreet's Covid-19 page for the latest info on masking and Community Levels before visiting in person.


Space Accessibility:

Our space is ADA accessible with automatic door openers, ADA-compliant restrooms, desk and table spacing, braille signage, and elevator. Our classrooms can be equipped with ALS for hard of hearing individuals. We cannot guarantee a scent-free environment.
