Class Description:
Do you love reading and dreaming up your own fantastic plots? Have you ever wondered what it would take to write your own book? This summer, you’ll get a chance to turn your love for stories into the start of your very own novel! Over five days, you’ll come up with ideas for a novel, design a fictional world, develop unforgettable characters, and map out a plot from beginning to end. We’ll use writing prompts, character interviews, story maps, and other engaging activities to help you create the building blocks for your story. There will be lots of time to get your ideas on the page and share your developing draft with other students. This class is excellent for experienced fiction and fanfiction writers and those trying their hand at crafting a novel for the very first time. Writing notebooks will be available, but feel free to bring your own. For writers age 13 - 18 ONLY.
Parents/guardians must also complete this permission form online before the start of the class.

Zoom Participation:
In our experience, the intimate nature of a writing workshop benefits from on-camera participation. Students are of course welcome to turn their camera off whenever they need to, but it is a community norm for cameras to be on most of the time. You can learn more about using Zoom here.
Zoom Accessibility:
You can enable closed captioning at any time during the meeting by clicking the CC button at the bottom of the screen. If you'd like to access the transcript after class, please make sure to let your instructor ahead of time that you'd like a copy.
