Class Description

You have a draft of a personal essay that you're excited about, and you're ready to polish and develop it with the help of careful readers. In this four-week revision workshop, we’ll focus on the art of rewriting: sharpening your voice, deepening your themes, and shaping your pieces for maximum impact. Each week, you’ll share work with your peers and receive thoughtful written and verbal feedback to help you strengthen both the craft and clarity of your writing. We’ll also study revision strategies used by published essayists, exploring how to restructure, refine, and polish your own work. By the end of the course, you’ll leave with at least one essay in strong revised form and a toolkit for approaching future drafts with confidence.
Please note: Class does not meet Thursday, November 27th.

Zoom Participation:
In our experience, the intimate nature of a writing workshop benefits from on-camera participation. Students are of course welcome to turn their camera off whenever they need to, but it is a community norm for cameras to be on most of the time. You can learn more about using Zoom here.
Zoom Accessibility:
You can enable closed captioning at any time during the meeting by clicking the CC button at the bottom of the screen. If you'd like to access the transcript after class, please make sure to let your instructor ahead of time that you'd like a copy.
