Class Description
This six-week workshop will dwell on this fact: all poems have politics. We'll talk, read, write, and share our work and thinking about the relations between poetry and politics, how and why they matter now, and how they can inform our practices of writing, revising, and thinking on the page--and even change our ideas of what poetry is and can do. You can expect to begin new work and receive feedback on work in progress, and leave with a set of new ways of exercising language in your poems. Readings may include Danez Smith, Jericho Brown, Juliana Spahr, Claudia Rankine, Amiri Baraka, Adrienne Rich, and C.D. Wright.
