Class Description
This is a class on the personal essay, or the memoir in short form. Your experiences, your people, you -- and in particular, the stories you can tell today about the version of yourself that you were yesterday, last year, ten years ago. We'll spend some time reading excerpts from published essays, though much of this class is going to be in-class writing and sharing. By the end of the four weeks, you'll leave the class with lots of new material and some understanding of the fundamentals for writing creative nonfiction. Authors we read may include Chanel Miller, Rabih Alameddine, Alex Chee, and Cheryl Strayed.
This class will be primarily taught in English, reading texts included. The instructor also speaks Spanish and Mandarin Chinese and welcomes students in those languages as well.
Please Note: Registration is not required but strongly preferred!
