Class Description
After taking 6 Weeks, 6 Stories at GrubStreet you have a treasure trove of tales that you're ready to revise and polish for publication. In this advanced course, we will focus on revising short fiction to discover new angles in our storytelling and bring out the best in our drafts. Each class will include a short lecture on a specific advanced craft element. We will also complete in-class diagnostic exercises on already-written work and then take those drafts home to revise. Students will have three opportunities to submit these revisions for workshop over the course of the class. You’ll leave invigorated with up to six story revisions, three workshopped stories, and a game plan for revising and completing your drafts in progress. Students should come to class with at least one story in mind that they'd like to revise.
Note: This class will meet every other Monday, beginning September 14th.
Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
