Class Description

Whether you consider yourself seasoned or entirely new to short fiction writing, come take part in this six-week generative writing sprint! Each week, writers will begin a new short story draft (ranging from 300 to 1,500 words) and receive thoughtful and constructive peer feedback that will enable you to deepen and grow your fiction.
Together, we’ll read and discuss published short stories by such authors as Italo Calvino, Mariana Enríquez, and Edward P. Jones (to name a few).
By the end of the course, writers will come away with six new story drafts, fresh ideas and inspiration for moving forward, as well as a solid grasp of the essential craft elements of short fiction—structure, language, characterization, plot and setting / worldbuilding.
