Class Description
Whether you're looking to experiment, produce new works for a collection, or work on revisions, this workshop offers the opportunity to broaden and deepen your knowledge of poetry. Each week, we’ll study the craft and vision of contemporary poets and respond to in-class prompts. You will share two poems a week, one from the in-class writing exercise and something else you’ve revised at home. Our lessons include exercises focused on ‘poeming-on-our-feet,’ and exploring experimental revision strategies. There will also be an optional poetry craft podcast episode assigned each week so you can hear from other working poets their thoughts on craft, moving through the world as a writer, and some lovely banter along the way. This class will allow you to break old habits, play with unconventional forms, and, most importantly, leave the course with both fresh and revised drafts of many poems. We'll be looking at work by Jon Sands, Nazim Hikmet, Sam Sax, Aziza Barnes, Hanif Abdurraqib, Joy Harjo, Ada Limon, Richard Siken, Fatimah Ashgar and more!
Class Format
This class will take place in-person at our Center for Creative Writing in Boston's Seaport neighborhood.

GrubStreet is a mask-friendly space. When our community Covid risk level is low or medium, masks are optional. GrubStreet’s space is currently: mask optional. Scholarship Information
Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
