Class Description

Whether you're looking to experiment, produce new works for a collection, or work on revisions, this workshop offers the opportunity to broaden and deepen your knowledge of poetry. Each week, we’ll study the craft and vision of contemporary poets and respond to in-class prompts. Our lessons include exercises focused on cultivating a sense of playfulness and exploration in your writing while also exploring experimental revision strategies. This class will allow you to break old habits, play with unconventional forms, and, most importantly, leave the course with both fresh and revised drafts of many poems. We'll be looking at work by Ntozake Shange, Sonia Sanchez, June Jordan, and more!
Writing Roadmap: We've created a simple, goal-based writing roadmap to help you find the perfect GrubStreet course for your writing needs.
