Class Description

Ready to get your poetry out into the world? You’ve come to the right place. In this course, we will engage in a structured process of drafting and revision, with the goal of developing three polished poems by the end of class.

Over the first three weeks, we will explore the craft of poetry through a different theme each week to help shape our work, including such topics as visual form and structure, voice and perspective, sound and image. At the end of each week, you will submit a draft of a poem to receive impressions and feedback from your fellow writers. In the second half of class, we will shift focus to revision. Each week, we will explore a different aspect of revision, and engage in a revision assignment based around that theme to help develop polish our poems. At the end of the week, you will submit your revised draft for a more comprehensive workshop from your fellow writers.

You will leave this course with polished drafts, along with tools and tips for submission, and the skills to continue producing and revising new work.

This class is appropriate for poets looking to produce new work, or writers who have existing drafts of poems that they wish to workshop.

*NOTE that while our handy dandy "Schedule" tab states a 6-7pm class time, there are actually no live meetings for this class! Weekly lessons and assignments open each Wednesday. Students will receive an invitation to Wet Ink, our online class platform, before 5pm on the first day of class.
