Class Description
In this one-day class, you'll learn how to get to the heart of character motivation. We will discuss crafting characters from the inside out -- ones who are more than the sum of their physical traits. You’ll learn how to use behavioral research to answer all kinds of questions such as, “What would this character really do?” “What makes a person do this?” “How would my character react to that?” Through lecture, discussion, and writing exercises, you’ll learn new techniques for crafting three-dimensional, compelling, and memorable major as well as minor characters.
Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
