Structuring a Novel with Good Bones (2-Part) - Remote!

Class Description

Are you in the morass of meandering, researching, and sketching your novel, but not able to get a firm hold? For those who are beginning a novel (or have begun many a book, but never finished) this seminar will provide a working outline for building the framework for your novel, using the “how do you eat an elephant” approach: one bite at a time.

Part one will concentrate on the underlying mechanics of building a novel and understanding components, from the dialog, to stage business, to story vs plot, and everything in-between.

In part two, participants will work, step-by-step, to build a bible and outline for their novel.

Participants should bring their story idea/s, index cards, pens, a computer or notebook, and a pencil (with an eraser!) By the end of day two, day, participants can walk out having a skeleton on which to build their novel.

This class will be hosted using live Zoom meetings! You will be able to participate in class via Zoom videoconference from wherever you’re most comfortable. All you’ll need is a laptop or a phone! About 15 minutes before your class is scheduled to begin, you'll receive an email from your instructor with a link to join the class meeting via Zoom–no need to download anything or sign up for Zoom in advance! Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better.
