Class Description

Do you have a fabulous idea for a story and maybe even a bunch of disconnected scenes and slick lines of dialogue? In this second section of the Short Fiction Essentials Series, we’ll discuss strategies for forming your amazing ideas and notes into scenes, dialogue, and exposition. Through readings of drafts of published stories and in-class writing, we’ll discover ways to find the connective tissue that will make our stories come together. Bring your story ideas or pieces of scenes (as well as a notebook/laptop) and expect to leave with a strong start on a draft. (You do not have to have taken the first section of the Short Fiction Essentials Series to take this class.)

This is part of GrubStreet's Short Fiction Essentials Series, a series dedicated to the craft and process of writing short fiction from start to finish. Classes include:
