Class Description
Get closer to the literary journals you admire with this specialized series of seminars. The Sessions with the Editor series offers insight into the featured journal’s aesthetics, archives, how to submit, and the editorial process– straight from the editors! In this informative 3-hour session, featured editors will talk about their journal and share their insights, including some of their favorite published pieces. They will also answer your burning questions about writing, editing, and submitting. These seminars are great for any writer interested in learning more about the editorial process for literary journals, or writers who are actively submitting.
On Wednesday, September 20th, get to know Hippocampus. Kristen Paulson-Nguyen, Writing Life Editor, will lead this informative session. Attendees will have a unique opportunity to submit to Writing Life; one student will be chosen for publication in the November column. In addition to hearing about Writing Life, students will receive tips on submitting to Craft, Interviews, and Reviews, and flash. Hippocampus Magazine (and Books) is an exclusively online publication set out to entertain, educate and engage writers and readers of creative nonfiction. Each issue features memoir excerpts, personal essays, reviews, interviews and craft articles, and is unique in the way it publishes books, and builds community around its magazine contributors.

Class Format
This class will take place using Zoom videoconferencing. About 15 minutes before your class is scheduled to begin, you'll receive an email from your instructor with a link to join the class meeting!
Scholarship Information
Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.

Zoom Participation:
In our experience, the intimate nature of a writing workshop benefits from on-camera participation. Students are of course welcome to turn their camera off whenever they need to, but it is a community norm for cameras to be on most of the time. You can learn more about using Zoom here.
