Reflections on Travel: Where Have You Been?

Class Description

In this time of restricted travel, along with our attempts to squeeze full, multi-layered lives into our homes, many of us are reflecting back on other places we have been. Perhaps we are attaching new meaning to our former journeys. Maybe we are collecting new wisdom in the act of stationary living.

In this 3-hour workshop, we will begin to write about some of the places we've been and reflect on how they have shaped who we are. Through in-class writing, along with exercises that help bolster our personal experience with narrative structure, we will begin to see how our perception of our travels has changed over time. We will also look at what, essentially, those journeys might have changed within us. Most importantly, we will use this time together to begin a piece of creative nonfiction and to plant the hopeful seeds for whatever comes next.

Class Format

This class will take place using Zoom videoconferencing. About 15 minutes before your class is scheduled to begin, you'll receive an email from your instructor with a link to join the class meeting!

Scholarship Information

Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
