Class Description

The difference between writers and the rest of the world is that real writers write. They see it as both their calling and their job. No matter what their mood or the distractions in their lives, they sit down every day and do it. So why does that sound so simple yet feel so hard? If fear, disorganization, or self-doubt keep getting in the way of your writing, this course is for you. We’ll talk about the reasons people avoid writing and various ways to “trick” your brain into entering a comfortable, productive writing state. The class will begin with tips for keeping a schedule, using exercises to get unstuck, and writing through uncertainty. We will go on to workshop in subsequent weeks, focusing only on new work that is generated through the methods learned in this course. Appropriate for writers at every level—from beginners to published authors—who struggle to produce pages on their own.
