Developing Memorable Characters - Remote!

Class Description

Ideas for stories often start with a character in a situation or struggling with a problem. Sometimes we know our characters so well, there's no question what they would do in any situation. Other times we may be at a loss for where to take our characters. This seminar focuses on developing authentic characters who are memorable and believable. Characters who have strong points of view, interesting personalities and clear motivations.

During our time, we will analyze characterization through some of our own favorite literary characters. You will bring your own characters to the group to introduce them and be given ways to enhance their memorability. We will engage in fun activities that support character development and you will be given space to write your characters into a few scenes that you can use as you start or complete your writing projects.
