Class Description
In this workshop we will explore different models of feeling and queer desire as starting points towards more just futures for our communities. We will read some writings from José Esteban Muñoz and Audre Lorde and spend some time with queer organizing histories within the United States. We will then listen to music from Black Belt Eagle Scout, a queer Swinomish musician as well as sit with words from trans organizer Miss Major and poet June Jordan as inspiration for our own original works that imagine safer, healthier, and ultimately freer mods of queer existence. Participants will leave with writing and reflections towards a piece of creative writing and maybe even two! This class is designed for and centers queer and trans people of color and especially Black trans participants.
Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.

This class will take place in-person at our Center for Creative Writing in Boston's Seaport neighborhood.
