About Kathryne

Kathryne McCann (she/her/hers) is the Student Support Assistant at GrubStreet. She holds a BA in Journalism from American University and is currently pursuing a MFA in Creative Writing at Emerson College. As a journalist, she has written for national and local outlets on topics ranging from politics to fashion. Before joining Grubstreet, Kathryne worked as a teaching artist and program coordinator at Urban Arts in NYC, where she taught classes exploring the intersection of storytelling, technology, and the arts. She is passionate about ambitious storytelling and building community through writing. Outside of work she can often be found lurking around bookstores, crocheting, or writing about magic.
