About Dariel
Dariel Suarez is the author of the novel The Playwright's House, finalist for the Rudolfo Anaya Fiction Award and the Massachusetts Book Award, and the story collection A Kind of Solitude, winner of the Spokane Prize and the International Latino Book Award for Best Collection of Short Stories. He has also published a poetry chapbook, In The Land of Tropical Martyrs.An inaugural City of Boston Artist Fellow, Dariel has been awarded the First Lady Cecile de Jongh Literary Prize, and his prose has appeared in Best American Essays, The Threepenny Review, The Kenyon Review, Prairie Schooner, Michigan Quarterly Review, LitHub, The Gettysburg Review, Southern Humanities Review, Third Coast, North American Review, and The Massachusetts Review, among many others. With over a decade of pedagogical experience, Dariel has taught creative writing and led presentations at numerous universities, conferences, and writing centers, including GrubStreet (where he's a former Artistic Director), Boston University, Metropolitan College, and Boston Arts Academy. He's been a visiting author at Brown University, UMAss Boston, Cambridge College, and the University of Maine. Dariel earned his MFA in Fiction at Boston University and now resides in the Boston area with his wife and daughter.
