The process of revising a novel is hard to do alone. This class is designed for intermediate to experienced MG/YA writers who have previously taken the MG/YA Novel In Progress course. Classes will be primarily focused on workshopping student work, with student and instructor feedback helping refine and deepen students’ stories while building tools to aid in the long process of novel revision. Classes may also include revision tools and techniques, exercises to uncover issues in the draft, and discussing published novel excerpts, including work by such authors as: Nicola Yoon, Roshani Chokshi, Ali Benjamin, and more. The course will involve weekly reading outside of class up to 30 pages. The goal is to revise 30-45 pages of your YA or MG novel. Note: class will be limited to 9 students.

Important dates:

Applications are due by Monday, April 19th, 11:59PM EST.

All admitted students have an enrollment deadline of Monday, April 26th.

This class will be hosted using live Zoom meetings! You will be able to participate in class via Zoom videoconference from wherever you’re most comfortable. All you’ll need is a laptop or a phone! About 15 minutes before your class is scheduled to begin, you'll receive an email from your instructor with a link to join the class meeting via Zoom–no need to download anything or sign up for Zoom in advance! If you have questions about remote learning, please feel free to reach out to [email protected] for more information.
