José Angel Araguz, Ph.D. is the author of the lyric memoir Ruin & Want (Sundress Publications) as well as the poetry collections Rotura (Black Lawrence Press) and La esperanza espera (Valparaiso Ediciones) among others. His poetry and prose have appeared in Prairie Schooner, Poetry International, The Acentos Review, Split This Rock, and Oxidant | Engine, among other places. He is an Associate Professor at Suffolk University as well as a faculty member at large for the Solstice Low-Residency MFA Program. Formerly the editor-in-chief of Salamander, he blogs and reviews books at The Influence.

What I'm Looking For
I’m a poet, essayist, and longtime editor. I love exploring how voice takes shape across genres and helping writers get closer to the emotional pulse of their work. I’ve taught at Suffolk University for several years, but most of all I see myself as a fellow maker.
