GrubStreet’s Draft Builder Workshops are five-month courses designed to help you turn a book idea into real pages with structure, accountability, and a clear plan to keep going.

Whether you’re writing a novel, memoir, essay collection, or short story collection, you’ll move from concept to a strong start of a draft with the support of an experienced instructor and a committed class of fellow writers. Through craft lessons, planning tools, writing exercises, and workshops, you will:

• Develop a compelling idea for your book
• Build a strong foundation for your draft
• Create a clear roadmap to guide your writing journey

These workshops are only offered once a year and are a great next step for writers looking to jumpstart a book-length project, especially those who may eventually apply to GrubStreet’s Generator and/or Incubator programs.
