GrubStreet is thrilled to congratulate instructor Samantha Shanley! Samantha's essay “On Memory" was published in the Summer edition of Middlebury Magazine. The essay is about losing/finding material things and caring for aging family members. She thanks her "Writing Motherhood" and "Writing Your Family History" students for reminding her to keep writing, always.

We asked Samantha how her time at GrubStreet influenced her accomplishment:

“The more time I spend teaching at GrubStreet and generating my own work, the deeper I go into my creative process, generating the kind of work I've always known I was capable of making. The gumption to keep going, keep writing, keep pressing on with the craft comes from being so well immersed in this incredible community."
